Report from the second part of the voyage

Kirkwall Orkneys_peel Isle of Man

After a wonderful goodbye in The Orkneys with Bagpipes and lots of tears on deck we continued our voyage to the Isle of Man.
We spent almost 30 hours at sea before we anchored in Loch Beag on the Scottish coast. Next day we went sailing again. Sailed trough some beautiful landscapes before we had to call it the day in Mallaig due to heavy headvinds. We moored next to a boat called the Leader. We had a great welcome from the crew on that boat. Everyone was greeted with a glass of red wine and we where offered showers and beds for some of the crew. We want to thank everyone at the Leader for the great reception.
The day after that we went down trough the Siun of Mull. Had a great sail down too Oban and moored at Dunstaffnage. Met some old friends, The ship Aileach and Renald MacDonald. Did some rowing with them the next day.
Cecilie had a bad back and was looked at by a doctor that was very good, thank you too him!
Tony from the boat Aileach went sailing with us for a few days as we went further south. And he was a good crewmember to have. He showed us a great place to moore the next day, and that is how we made a very dramatic entrance to Crinnan in heavy fog. We whwere welcomed by Merete a Norwegian that lived in Crinnan with her boyfriend Ross. Great peple with great parents, that invited us for breakfast at their hotel the next day. Merete and Ross also came along for the trip down to Bruchladdich the next day. We had a great sail down there, with wonderful weather. The owner of Bruchladdich distillery that we met at Crinnan invited us for a full tour of the distillery; we got to sample some really good old whisky. And even got the use of the distillery van for a day. After Bruchladdich we sailed on to Northern Ireland. I think several of us would like to spend more time in Scotland, but this was good bye for now.
Next stop, Glenarm, Northern Irleand. We were met by Alexander the Earl of Antrim and all invited to the Highland Games there. A good day!
Next day we swt sail for our final destination of this leg of the trip. Isle of Man. We set sail across the Irish Sea and had a good trip to Peel and saw a whale during the day. We got some rain at the end of the sail so we entered Peel harbour very wet and cold and happy to finally be there.

PEEL

We got a great reception in Peel the next day. We went to The House of Mannanan for a reception and a tour around the Gokstad Ship copy the Odins Raven.. At night we where invited to the sailors club for food and drinks.
The next day we had an open boat with lots of visitors. We where also invited to the military tattoo at Thingwall and a great night there.
The days in Peel where filled with tours around for some of us, open boat for everyone and lots of nice people to meet and talk to. I hope we don’t forget anyone but we would like to thank the sailing club for use of showers and toilets and a great reception. The Norwegian council and his wife for everything they helped us with. Rose the PA of the Norwegian council for help and support, especially with Cecilie who finally had to throw in the towel and realise that the back problem had to be taken care of. The Hospital in Douglas for great care for Cecilie so she could finally go home. And Tony for organizing so much for us and taking us for a trip to the Onkell brewery for a tour. We had such a good time in Peel and all the locals that came to see us and talk to us and help us with different things will not be forgotten. Thank you so much.
